I’m excited to inform you that the 17th concert season of the Columbus Guitar Society will officially launch at 8 pm, 20 October with a recital by the stylish Castellani-Andriaccio Duo. They are counted amongst the elite chamber ensembles on the music scene today, having garnered international critical praise, sitting as co-Directors of the Falletta Guitar Concerto Competition, and as long-time Artists-in-Residence at the prestigious Chautauqua Institution. Their nine recordings on Etcetera and their own Fleur de Son Classics place them amongst the more prolific guitar ensembles, and their Danzas and More CD was named “Best of the Year” by American Record Guide. General admission is only $18 at the door |
(a trifling $12 for members, students, or seniors). General admission tickets can be obtained at the door, via Ticketmaster.com, or by from the CAPA ticket office: 614-469-0939. Discounted tickets can only be obtained at the door.
I want to remind you that you can preorder the four professional dates on the 2007-08 CGS series at the discount rate of $48 total (saving a full 1/3, $24 from the general admission rate) up to 20 October by calling or visiting the CAPA ticket office: again, 614-469-0939. Please take advantage of this system so that it becomes profitable for us to use (or so we at least recoup our expenses in using it), and please spread word of its availability.
The next informal meeting of the CGS falls earlier that very day, 1:00 pm on 20 October 2007. Come on out to play some “classical” music on your guitar or kin…or just casually socialize and listen. As always, we’ll be at the Borders Books, Music & Cafe, 4545 Kenny Rd., Columbus, OH, 43220 (at the intersection of Kenny and Henderson Rds). Also as always, the setting is casual and supportive in the extreme. Don’t be shy now; feel free to pluck at something. …And who knows, maybe I can persuade Joanne Castellani and/or Michael Andriaccio to join us briefly.
Earlier this month, 8 pm (pre-concert lecture at 7:30 pm), 12 October, renowned lutenist and Dorian recording artist Ronn McFarlane will be opening the Early Music in Columbus concert series in Capital University’s Mees Auditorium. See the Early Music site for details. I’ll be there. Feel free to join me.
Finally, our own Karl Wohlwend has made 7:30 pm on the last Wednesday of every month a regular classical guitar gig at Maca Cafe, 5 S. Liberty Street, Powell, OH 43065. See you there come Halloween?
Best wishes,
Eugene
