Announcing the 2008-09 Concert Series

	An exciting collaboration between celebrated performer-scholar Stanley Yates and the renowned Cavani Quartet presented in collaboration with the excellent City Music Chamber Series. Winners of the distinguished Naumburg Award and many others, Cavani have been favorite performers and recording artists since 1989. A respected performer, Yates also has his own dedicated series through mega-publisher Mel Bay. Yates-Cavani team up to bring us an exquisite afternoon performance of some of the earliest concertos for guitar at the Athletic Club of Columbus Ballroom, 2 pm, 12 October 2008.
Chilean guitarist Carlos Pérez is “a master guitarist with true star quality” (Classical Guitar Magazine), performing with orchestras in France, Belgium, USA, Portugal, Russia, and Chile. He has released five excellent commercial CDs and has taken first prize at many international competitions, including the prestigious Rodrigo Competition in 2006. Pérez will artfully blend impeccable class with exciting virtuosity at his recital on 8 November 2008.
	Centaur Records recording artist Christopher Wilke is an eclectic musician who concentrates on music for plucked strings, both modern and historical. In addition to his work with traditional repertoire, Mr. Wilke is a composer, having studied with Robert Denham and Angelo della Picca. His compositions are published by Les Productions d’Oz. He is currently studying baroque lute at the prestigious Eastman School of Music. Wilke delivers a refined recital of refined baroque music for lute on 21 February 2009.
Astonishing Polish virtuoso Marcin Dylla has won a staggering 17 first prizes in guitar competitions around the world (yes, that’s 17!), including the 2007 Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) Solo Competition. He has also graced the stage of many distinguished global concert halls: Konzerthaus, Musikverein and Palais Lobkovitz, Vienna; Auditorio Nacional and Auditorio Conde Duque, Madrid; St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall; Kleinhans Music Hall, Buffalo; Villa Hügel, Essen; and the Palazzina Liberty, Milan. The GFA winners always deliver fiery virtuosity, as Marcin will on 4 April 2009.

All performances, 8 pm at Capital University’s Huntington Recital Hall unless otherwise noted. General admission for the Yates-Cavani concert will be $22; general admission for all others is $18 (or $12 for members/students/seniors). Lessons
Each participant will receive two half-hour private lessons. After your deposit is received you will receive a questionnaire where you can list your choices for teachers. Teachers will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Information
Dates: June 22-28, 2008. The first activity is a concert at 3pm on Sunday, the 22nd. The Festival ends late Friday the 27th, after the evening concert.
Tuition: $420-$100 deposit to register.
Housing: In dormitories on the Case Western Reserve University campus.
$410-single room or $310 (each) double room. Add $100 for air-conditioned rooms. Rooms are provided Sunday night through Friday night. Additional
nights housing are $35 (no meals on Saturdays).
Meals: Breakfast & Dinner supplied, Lunch on your own.

Exciting news!

Be sure to listen for Chris on WVXU’s local arts show, “Around Cincinnati” on 91.7 FM Sunday April 6th at 7:00pm. One segment of the show will be devoted to a discussion with Brian O’Donnell of his forthcoming Mt. St. Joe concert. Chris will perform live-in-the-studio theorbo selections by Robert de Viseè as well.

In addition, Chris will be the featured guest on WGUC’s “Cincinnati Spotlight” on FM 90.9 on Tuesday, April 8th shortly before 10:00am. This will also focus on his April 11th concert.

Jim McCutcheon (B. Music Performance, ’78 and Master of Music in Music Education, ’91) has taught at Wright State and the University of Dayton for 30 years. He performs throughout the region and operates McCutcheon Music in Centerville with his wife, Debbie.

Well-known to area audiences, Danny Voris has been developing his craft of composing in a fusion style mixing classical and rock. He has performed solo and with his band, The Danny Voris project, and has released several CDs of his compositions and arrangements.

Michael Bard, who has built a career in Washington D.C, has performed internationally and has taught Senator John Kerry for several years!

Kevin Mulhall has taught at Sinclair Community College and Antioch for several years, and has also held the position of music technology support specialist at Sinclair.

Dennis Delphenich, now an investment specialist, has performed often at the annual GuitarFest and area venues.

A new quartet for classical guitars by Jim McCutcheon will be premiered at this event.

Robert’s program will span baroque Europe to Spanish and Latin American favorites. …And we still represent one of the best values for your entertainment dollar in town, consarn it!
